Stamp Making & Carving Techniques
Stamp making and carving is a creative printmaking technique where artists design and carve their own images or patterns into a material such as rubber, linoleum, or soft carving blocks. Using special carving tools, they carefully remove the areas that will remain blank, leaving the raised design to hold ink. Once the stamp is inked, it can be pressed onto paper, fabric, or other surfaces to create repeated prints. This process allows for bold, graphic images, intricate textures, and unique handmade effects. Stamp making encourages experimentation with line, shape, and negative space, making it a popular method in visual art for personalizing projects, creating patterns, and exploring the relationship between design and reproduction.
