Students will be able to create a detailed still life drawing using enlargement and proportion techniques, demonstrating their understanding of measurement and artistic skills.
Practice drawing simple shapes: circles, squares, and triangles. Focus on proportion and size.
Look around the room. Choose three objects and sketch them quickly. Pay attention to how they relate in size and space.
Reflect: How does changing the size of an object affect its look and feel in your drawing?
Enlargement: The process of making an object larger while maintaining its proportions.
Proportion: The relationship between the sizes of different parts of an object or between objects.
Sketch: A rough or unfinished drawing that captures the basic elements of a subject.
Medium: The materials used to create art, such as pencils, paint, or charcoal.
Composition: The arrangement of elements within a work of art.

Select Your Objects: Choose 3-5 objects for your still life. These can be items from your home or classroom.
Set Up Your Composition: Arrange the objects in an interesting layout. Consider how they relate to each other in terms of size and space or use the provided images in the class.
Measure, Sketch, and Enlarge: Use a ruler or pencil to measure object proportions. Draw a 1-inch grid on your reference image, then a 2-inch grid in your sketchbook. Lightly sketch the outlines by matching shapes square by square.
Refine Your Sketch: Once you’re happy with your proportions, refine your lines and add details to your objects.
Add Shadows and Textures: Use shading techniques to create depth and realism in your drawing.
Final Touches: Erase any unnecessary lines and ensure your presentation is neat.
