Exploring Textures,  Patterns, & Rhythm in Art

Objective:

Students will be able to create an original artwork using oil pastels that demonstrates their understanding of textures, patterns, and rhythm in visual fine arts.

Warm Up:

1. Draw a close-up of an animal or plant, focusing on different textures you see (e.g., fur, leaves).

2. Experiment with creating patterns using lines and shapes in a small sketch.

3. Practice blending different colors with oil pastels to see how they interact.

Key Vocabulary:

• Rhythm: A visual tempo or beat in an artwork that guides the viewer's eye.

5. Blend Colors: Use blending techniques to create depth and interest in your artwork.

7. Final Touches: Review your work, add details, and ensure the presentation is neat and polished.
